Bible Prophecy and the GB
by Lost in the fog inofriends, having followed many of your posts on this website, i am convinced that the prophecy of the last days as penned in 2nd timothy 3:1-7 is actually now being fulfilled by the present governing body.. .
2 tim 3:1… but know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.
(definitely, we all face hardships from the gb policies.

Neat Blue Dog.
Of course I am not taking it seriously. 😎
It is only that the letter to Timothy was written to those inside the early Christian Church. The WTS always applies it to the world outside of the Organisation.
It could be applied to any group of people past, present, or future. However it seemed to me that the description of those verses could equally fit the GB's actions which we see at the moment.

OFriends, having followed many of your posts on this website, I am convinced that the prophecy of the last days as penned in 2nd Timothy 3:1-7 is actually now being fulfilled by the present Governing Body.

☑️ For men will be lovers of themselves, (Look at us, we're on TV).
☑️ lovers of money, (Sell-off property)
☑️ boastful, (We make the rules, you must obey them.)
☑️haughty, (We are in charge!)
☑️blasphemers, disobedient to parents, (Disobedient to Father Jehovah's and Jesus's loving message.)
☑️unthankful, (Give us more donations. )
☑️disloyal, (to the long term Bethel workers once they reach older ages.)
☑️having no natural affection, (The shunning policy, JCs.)
☑️not open to any agreement, (Try disagreeing with the GB and see what happens to you.)
☑️slanderers, (Changed ideas, but deny they were ever at fault.)
☑️without self-control, (Warwick, even if Jehovah's direction was not evident. We want it, we get it).
☑️fierce, without love of goodness, (2-witness rule, treatment of abused children.)
☑️betrayers, (Where does the blame fall for mistakes? On the R+F.)
☑️headstrong, (as above)
☑️puffed up with pride, (goes without saying any more.)
☑️lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, (Rolex watches, trips abroad.)
☑️having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; (Is this the Truth?)
and from these turn away. (TTATT)
☑️From among these arise men who slyly work their way into households and captivate weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires, (Camp followers, photos with the GB, Bibles signed by the GB.)
☑️ always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth. (Revised understanding, New Light).

When did JWs begin.
by Lost in the fog in" the contestant was useless as he said the 1700s.
the correct answer the quiz master gave was the 20th century.
and then he added, "they only began in the 1930s believe it or not.

I was listening to a quiz on the radio when the question came up "In what century did the Jehovah's Witness religion begin?" The contestant was useless as he said the 1700s.
The correct answer the quiz master gave was the 20th century. And then he added, "they only began in the 1930s believe it or not."
Now, strictly speaking that is correct. Jehovah's Witnesses only came in to being when they changed their name. Before that they were just the Bible Students.
But it got me to thinking that this is probably why the GB can now distance themselves from the looney ideas of Russell and even early Rutherford, by saying "it was not our religion then" even though it was really. Jesus's return in 1874/5. Not a Jehovah's Witness belief, we only came about in the 1930s....
Just my musings on the topic.

Sign of apostasy
by Ireneus inelders arranged a sort of informal visit by a more capable elder accompanied by another brother who is more qualified than me from academic background.
their purpose was to reason with me as a last resort to avoid a jc.. during the two-hour discussion, i could make my point clear to them: “i don’t think any one particular religion has the whole truth.
it may be existing as bits and piece in all religions and schools of thought.

Has anyone ever played the Mental health angle?
I was reading something about dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder) recently, so often seen in people who were sexually abused.
If you wanted to stay in but just fade away could you argue that when the elders called it wasn't you that they spoke to but one of your other personalities? In the Bible weren't there times when David feigned madness to escape his oppressors? Has anybody tried this tactic yet?

Of course Ireneus, you can also use the same explanation as the July 2009 Awake! and blame it on your depression.
"When Barbara’s depression and feelings of worthlessness are more than she can bear, she and her husband phone Gerard, a family friend who is a Christian overseer. He always listens patiently as Barbara sobs uncontrollably and repeats the same anguished thoughts she has expressed before. Gerard has learned to listen without being judgmental, argumentative, or condemning. (James 1:19) As the Bible advises, he has learned to “speak consolingly to the depressed.” (1 Thessalonians 5:14)."
Just say you're going through depression like the sister above and talk a lot of "wild talk" (like Job) when your head is all over the place. And say how disappointed you were with the negative remarks that elder made when what you really would have needed was an elder like Gérard in the magazine to comfort you - without judging you.
Useful to use the WT literature in your defence, because the boe cannot say it is wrong. Just a few thoughts on the matter. Hope it'll all end well for you. 🔆
